Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
About the sessions
1. How long does a session last?
Each session lasts approximately 60 minutes.
2. Are sessions available online?
Yes, individual sessions are offered online via Zoom only.
3. What happens during a session?
Each session is adapted based on the state of your nervous system and your current capacity. The pace is gentle and respectful of what is present in the moment.
4. What happens in the first session?
The first session includes a naturopathic evaluation to understand your general state, background, and needs. We then begin exploring together, based on what is emerging for you.
5. Do I need to prepare or write anything beforehand?
No preparation is necessary. A brief description of what brings you to this work is welcome, but we primarily follow what is arising in the present moment.
6. Do I have to talk during the session?
Yes, some communication is important. You'll be invited to share what you're experiencing, particularly in terms of bodily sensations or emotions. However, you don’t need to recount or relive the traumatic event. The work focuses on what is present in the moment, through the body’s language, and always respects your pace.
7. Will I have to relive my trauma?
No. This approach does not require you to consciously relive the trauma. Instead, we work with the imprints left in your nervous system — such as sensations, tensions, or emotions — in a gentle and progressive way. The goal is to bring more regulation and flow, not overwhelm. Further details can be found on the Somatic Experiencing® page.
8. Are your receipts covered by insurance?
Yes. I issue receipts in naturotherapy and naturopathy, which are accepted by many insurance companies in Canada. Coverage varies depending on your provider and policy, so it's best to check directly with them. See the Receipts & Insurance section for more information.
9. What can I do between sessions to support the process?
I may suggest some simple practices, such as orientation, grounding, or breath awareness. More than anything, it’s about cultivating gentle attention to your inner experience, without forcing anything. The goal is to develop a more supportive relationship with yourself, one step at a time. You’ll also find tools and practices on the Resources page.
10. Is this approach suitable for everyone?
The work I offer is tailored to each person, based on their pace and capacity. It is especially helpful for those who want to better understand their reactions, reconnect with their body in a kind way, or heal from relational wounds. However, it is not a substitute for medical or psychiatric treatment in cases of severe conditions.
11. Can I experience reactions between sessions?
Yes, that’s possible. The body integrates at its own pace. You might notice new sensations, emotions, or insights emerging. I invite you to gently welcome what comes up, and feel free to reach out if you need support between sessions. Often, a simple return to your breath or your environment can help restore balance.
1. How is this different from traditional talk therapy?
The somatic approach I offer doesn’t rely solely on verbal processing. It places the body at the center of the work, using sensation, movement, breath, and energy. This allows deep regulation of the nervous system without needing to retell or relive the entire story.
